FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
|
| Q) | How much are your tuition fees? |
| A) | Because situations and goals may vary from one family to another, we do not discuss tuition fees over the phone or the internet. If you are interested in becoming a student at our studio, please visit us during our normal business hours. We can then discuss our programs and a fee schedule that will maximize the potential for you or your child to succeed. |

| Q) | At what age can my child start taking classes? |
| A) | 'Little Ninja' classes are available for students ages 4-6. Students 7 and older frequently combine with teens and adults in our regular Tae Kwon Do program. |
| |
| Q) | Do I have to sign a long-term contract? |
| A) | No, but most of our students do commit to an extended-length course. Martial Arts are time-oriented studies and the longer you train, the more benefits you will experience. |
| |
| Q) | How often should I attend classes? |
| A) | Little Ninjas frequently attend one or two classes a week while older students usually attend classes two to three times per week depending on their age and belt level. Check our Schedules page for information on our current class times. |
| |
| Q) | Does your school participate in tournaments and competitions? |
| A) | No. Our school focuses more on the life skills gained through practicing martial arts and not the competitive aspects. |
| |
| Q) | I achieved a belt rank at another studio. Can I start at that same rank at your studio? |
| A) | Generally this will not be possible due to different teaching styles and curriculums. However, when you come in we can evaluate your past training and recommend an appropriate starting rank. |
| |
| Q) | I have a uniform from another studio. Can I wear it at your studio? |
| A) | Due to many varieties of logos, patches, and uniform designs, we do not allow uniforms from other schools to be used. Our school maintains a high-level of consistency, cleanliness and respect, and students who wear unclean or worn out uniforms may not participate in class. |
| |
| Q) | I have sparring equipment from another studio. Can I wear it at your studio? |
| A) | We will need to evaluate your equipment prior to using it in our studio. Safety is a primary concern to us and we will not allow students to spar with equipment that does not meet our standards for safety. |
| |
| Q) | Don't I have to be in great physical shape to study martial arts? |
| A) | No, you don't need to be in great shape to study martial arts. In fact, to some people martial arts is a way to help get into shape, not just a way to maintain conditioning and flexibility. Our programs are cumulative in nature so that our students can improve and extend their capabilities over time without risking injury or embarassment. |
| |
| Q) | Will I be injured in class? |
| A) | Our instructors take every precaution to ensure a safe training environment, from warm-up stretching exercises to using only approved equipment for contact sparring. For example, in addition to offensive and defensive activities, part of our curriculum also teaches our students how to fall in ways that reduce the possibility of injury. For our intermediate and advanced students, contact sparring done in our studio is conducted under strict adult supervision to ensure that students don't get carried away or misjudge their opponents in a way that could be harmful for either student. Practicing martial arts is a potentially dangerous activity, and accidents occasionally do happen, but safety is a prime consideration at our studio and it will not be sacrificed. |

| Q) | How long does it take to get a black belt? |
| A) | Many factors influence the time it takes for a student to achieve a black belt: age, level of coordination, physical condition, experience, attitude, talent, and above all, practice! Every student progresses at their own pace so there will always be variety in the times it takes to achieve various milestones, but our most successful students are those that practice on a regular basis - not only in our studio, but also at home. Our training program is demanding however and our standards high, so that for many students the path to a black belt usually takes about 3-5 years. |
